Laduree Interiors

Today, dear readers, we’d like to share with you images of the French brand Laduree’s beautiful interiors, like this one from their Soho tearoom in New York City.

For those of you who may not be familiar with them yet, Laduree is a world famous French luxury brand, best known for their exquisite tea rooms furnished with genuine antiques, and for the delicious, pastel colored macaroons that the world has come to know and love.
LADUREE HISTORY
Founded in 1862, Ladurée transformed itself under the direction of its founder, Louis Ernest Ladurée, from a bakery into a pastry shop in 1871.

Laduree’s founders settled on Rue Royale in the heart of the capital for their original pastry shop, but a bit later, the wife of the founder had the idea to set up a salon in the same place as the shop. A place where women could freely discuss anything and everything while enjoying one or two of their pastry delicacies.

The second cousin of founder Louis Ernest Laduree, Pierre Desfontaines – and the landowner – carried out her wishes and the first Laduree tearoom/salon opened in 1930 and was an instant success.

Fast forward to 1993, and the Holder family bought the Laduree brand and named young David Holder as President, and his sister Elisabeth as co-President.

When the Holder family originally bought the Laduree brand, they knew that to succeed, they had to be authentic to the brand’s luxury roots and history and so they kept the original tearoom open on Paris’ Rue Royale, shown below. Notice the original frescoes on the ceiling of Laduree Royale, painted by Jules Cheret who was entrusted with its interior decoration.

In 1997, the Holders opened a second Laduree tearoom on Paris’ Avenue Champs de Elysees.

For this location, they chose Studio Jacques Garcia to design the interiors.

Next, they opened Laduree Rue Bonaparte, on the fabled Left Bank corner of Rue Bonaparte and Rue Jacob where Madeleine Castaing once had her shop on the lower floor, painted black on the outside, and lived upstairs in her apartment.

As you’ve no doubt noticed by now, the downstairs area of each Laduree tearoom is quite different from the upstairs salon, and Laduree Rue Jacob is no different.
