The funny thing about a trend is, you wake up one day realizing that the whole world has embraced this phenomenon and you’re now scrambling to find out everything about it. What’s the case this time? Pink. Yes, the color that’s usually used to define the more feminine qualities in home decor, fashion, and art has grown-up from Malibu Barbie (hot pink) into a more refined, restrained hue. Empowered, the newly sophisticated color can be seen transcending design styles for all homes.

Here’s a few ways to embrace the millennial pink!

If You Can’t Take the Heat..

Back when we talked about kitchen renovations, we highlighted the importance of the triangle in the kitchen. One of those factors, the refrigerator, being a key factor both spatially and stylistically. Though atypical, this new millennial pink has caused design lovers to rethink pink:

If this is too bold of a move (even just a touch of pink in the kitchen) go smaller scale and try out the hue via accessories like….

Apart from having appliances in this shade, enjoy your food in them as well! These glass bowls swirl glass bowls offer the shade in a more subtle way with its translucent finish.

Pink as a backdrop

One doesn’t have to be styling a photo shoot for Apple’s latest gizmos to use pink as a backdrop. When used a wall-covering, pink tends to become more of a wall-flower, highlighting the best attributes for whatever is in place of it. Turn the spotlight on some of your favorite finds this season!

The way that the pattern (seen above) dances along the wall causes the eyes to shift. For some, it might be too busy. Seen below (in a coat of Sherwin Williams) as a solid, it is the constant element in the room that anchors all the decorative elements inside.

Sometimes…all you need is a pop! Try sprucing up your living area with a millennial pink throw, or add a few accent pillows to stand out in an otherwise neutral space.

How quickly we forget that curtains are not just function, they can be fashion as well! By pairing it with fresh greenery (as seen below) you have a relaxed resort feel in your very own living room!

Make a Statement

They say one is the loneliest number…but standing out is a quality that not many things possess! When an accent wall is too overbearing or you find that you’ve bought just enough pink accessories, create a conversation around one singular piece in a space. Seen below, a round table shines bright and creates a focal point like no other.

Matchy matchy furniture is out – statements are in! Use one plush velvet millennial pink sofa and you’ve just added a little sass (and class)!

Bedroom Magic

Try switching out the same neutral palette you’ve been using all year for your bedding and offer your bedroom a little juje with pink!

If you adore the bedding you currently have, keep those and try adding a festive headboard.

And there it is! Now go think pink for your next design move!
